Black Edge Lane Denholme towards TMR, Foreside top, Ogden Clough & Ogden circular (ish).

14:20 – 18:00

A hot sometimes breezy day and a good hike over the moors.

6 Swifts nr Ingham Lane on the way to Black Edge Lane.

A bit quiet on the moors today just Meadow Pipit for company for a good while. 9 Windmills out of action at the wind farm.
Towards Ogden clough a Kestrel and a Wren.
Quiet again on Ogden water –  usual gull sp. the juv. GCG still in residence.
Lots of dogs and dog people.
On the return journey (via the path well above Denholme Velvets) a few swallow, M. Pheasant & Red Legged Partridge.
A Heron flew over towards Ogden.
A look down the path to the salt pile revealed C50 Woodpigeon and nowt else.
Further down Black Edge Lane 8 Mistle Thrush were feeding, also going over , Kestrel and 3 Adult with 2 juv. LBBG going towards TMR. (Their calls made me think that my earlier report of Herring Gulls was in fact LBBG – live and learn).

House Sparrow and a second RLP walking on the track.
Returning to the car on the A629 a juv. Dunnock on the wall, ignoring all the traffic.

With a few other bird  sp. it was a bit dull bird wise but a very pleasant 4 hour walk.

Why do rabbits have big ears?
Because Noddy won't pay the ransom.

  1. Loads of Red Legged Partridge around TMR now with lots in release pens so the sad men can shoot them on the 12th.

  2. I passed through Ogden too. All I can add is a Cormorant and a Herring Gull > SW; the golf course was a desert.
