A dodgy weather forecast – dodgy in 2 ways:
1. Heavy
thunderstorms forecast
2. Warm
sunshine the reality with 5 mins of rain.
We had a marvellous day today with a long walk from
St. Helen’s down the Duver and along Bembridge Harbour. Along the side of the Bembridge
Nature Reserve (on hold for another day) then along the coast to Sandown and further
along the coast to Shanklin.
Birds:
2 Red Legged Partridge, 2 Stock Dove, Med. Gull, 8
Little Egret, Green Woodpecker, Herring Gull, Black Headed Gull, Coot, Many
Cormorant, Great Black-backed Gull, Heron, Chiffchaff, 2 Great Spotted
Woodpecker, Pheasant, House Martin, Sand Martin, Many Pied Wagtail, Willow
Warbler.Curlew.
What I though were Siskin at the time, but are juv.
Greenfinch.
3 Buzzard, 2 Kestrel, Moorhen, Mute Swan, Lesser
Black-backed Gull.
The top of the pops – a Peregrine Falcon high on the
cliffs between Sandown and Shanklin.
What
made it even better was that I’d eyeballed maybe 40 Wood Pigeon looking for a
Falcon, before I caught sight of the Peregrine.
