We stopped over overnight near Portsmouth before catching an early ferry to the I.O.W.
The campsite had a few Green Woodpeckers, Cormorant and Kestrel in a nearby tree - not a bad start.
The I.O.W. ferry crossing revealed large flocks of feeding Gulls and a Gannet made a fly over, but it was way to far off for a decent picture.
There were many Cormorant about.
Later in the week I noticed a low flying 'Cormorant' and as I watched it fly, for a long period, there was no cessation of wing beats - so I believe that the bird was a Shag.
Later, a walk around the Duver, St.Helen's revealed the usual Raven population.
Rather than Avon calling here - it's more Raven calling!
Not many waders here yet.
A few Oystercatcher, good numbers of Little Egret and Med. Gulls.
3 Green Woodpeckers were seen together and lots heard during our stay.
A Song Thrush was an unusual sight for me in this this area.
